Housing
Third Chance has accomplished an impactful list of items during its first few years of serving this community. The organization has provided tens of thousands of nights of shelter; secured and operated a network of eight hospitality houses; established Danville’s first and largest urban farm; changed the city code to allow for community gardens and urban agriculture; pushed forward the conversation about homelessness in ways that prioritize dignity and agency; canceled debt and secured financial freedom and opportunity for Danville residents who had few options; and developed a core leadership group composed of people with direct experience of homelessness, poverty, addiction, hunger, housing insecurity, and discrimination among other injustices.
